The Third Olympic Games

Since 2010, there has been a new addition to the Olympic calendar, the Youth Olympic Games. Its first Winter Games began in Innsbruck on 13th January 2012 and the mission endeavours to reconnect the Olympic movement with the youth of the world, the primary community of the Olympic community.

For some reason the Olympic flame lighting ceremony took place in Athens, not Olympias as is typically the case.  If you find out why, please let us know.
