The Greatest Olympic (TV) show ever?

With all the excitement and awarding giving surround the BBC tv series ‘Twenty Twelve’, most people have never heard of an earlier mockumentary called ‘The Games’, which was broadcast around the Sydney 2000 Olympics. When Twenty Twelve was broadcast, the creative force behind the Aussie version claimed – rightly, I think – that their ideas had been¬†plagiarized. Here’s a clip from the Sydney series, called ‘The Games’, there are many more on YouTube, so you can make up your own mind. This is among the funniest in the first series, but in the book we talk about how this Australian series transcended mere comedy becoming a major part of the Sydney 2000 cultural and political legacy.
